Star Wars: Episode I - Guardians of Peace and Justice

Star Wars: Episode IX - Return of the Jedi Star Wars: Episode VII - The Sith Knights Star Wars: Episode VI - The Power of the Forceĭue to Lynch's involvement with this film, he was unable to direct Dune, which performed poorly at the box office. Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back OTL film with the title retroactively added in later editions I hope you enjoy reading my alternative Star Wars timeline and may the Force be with you!Ĭurmudgeonly yours - Crim The Saga Title This TL explores the original plans for Episode VI - that is, Boba Fett as the main villain, Han Solo dying, and the bittersweet ending being merely the beginning of another chapter of Star Wars. It leaves the movies more-or-less unchanged until Episode VI was written. This TL does not touch Empire (I wouldn't dare). The point of divergence from our universe is George Lucas not suffering the crises that caused him to stop after three movies - in the middle of filming Empire Strikes Back. This timeline explores the possibility of four Star Wars trilogies. Your mouth just watered, didn't it? Mine did, too. What we got was nothing short of amazing, but imagine twelve amazing films. Imagine if there were, in fact, twelve films. What was originally a twelve-film extravaganza turned into a three-film extravaganza.

In OTL, George Lucas was going through a series of personal crises that ultimately disillusioned him with big-budged filmmaking. The EWOKS. It was clear George Lucas wanted to be done with these movies. Boba Fett's anti-climactic death, the forced Luke-Leia sibling relationship, and the overly enthusiastic ending negatively impact this movie, which had a lot of potential. Unfortunately for the original trilogy, Return of the Jedi is the weakest movie. The prequel trilogy is an abomination and no more will be said of them. There are few films which virtually everyone (barring some poor, poor outliers) has seen and the Star Wars movies are among them. The original Star Wars trilogy has entertained several generations and rightfully earned its spot in our culture. Its revolutionary camera work and special effects changed filmmaking forever. Ever since exploding onto the big screen in 1977, this series has redefined the Hollywood blockbuster. Star Wars has been an integral part of cinema and science fiction for nearly four decades.
